Delete your account.

You can delete your Merkx account at any time, from inside the app, without asking us. This page explains how, and exactly what happens after you do.

Delete from inside the app

This is the fastest route and it takes effect immediately.

• iPhone and iPad:Profile, then Privacy & Security, then Delete Account.
• Android: Settings, then Delete Account.

You will be asked to confirm twice. That is deliberate. Deletion is not something we want anyone to trigger by mistake.

If you cannot sign in

Email hello@merkx.ai from the address on the account, with the subject “Account deletion request”. We will verify that the address matches the account and delete it for you. We aim to complete these within 7 days and will confirm by email when it is done.

What gets deleted

• Your account, name, email address and sign-in identifiers
• Every conversation you have had with Merkx, text and voice
• Every memory Merkx holds about you, including anything in your Memory Vault
• Voice call recordings, transcripts and call summaries
• Goals, tasks, mood history and insights
• Photos and images you sent, and your profile picture
• Device tokens used for notifications

How long it takes

Your account is queued for deletion straight away and you are signed out. It is permanently removed after 30 days. During that window you can cancel simply by signing back in, which is there for the person who changes their mind on a bad night rather than as a hurdle.

After 30 days the data is gone from our systems and cannot be recovered by us or by you.

What we keep, and why

• Payment and transaction records. Tax and accounting law requires us to retain proof of purchase. These records identify a transaction, not your conversations.
• Anything we are legally required to hold longer. If that ever applies to your account, it is limited to what the law asks for and nothing more.

Nothing we keep is used to rebuild your account, and none of it is used to train anything.

Subscriptions

Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription bought through the App Store or Google Play, because those are managed by Apple and Google rather than by us. Cancel it in Apple subscriptions or Google Play subscriptions before or after deleting, or you may continue to be charged.

Deleting less than everything

If you want to remove specific things rather than your whole account, you do not have to delete it. You can remove any single memory in the Memory Vault, or ask Merkx in conversation to forget something. Your account and the rest of your history stay as they are.
